Chanting

The Million Names of God being chanted,
One by one the stars slowly flickered out,
The darkest of the darkest dark
Curtainlike spread slowly about.
As though frozen in a stasis
The world carried on as before
But the time of day and night
Wasn't to exist on Earth anymore

And the people collapsed in chaos
And the times of the killing began
And the darkness continued until
The extinction of the species man.

And all other creatures slept,
The only thing permitted to do
In the darkness a time of cleansing
And the planet began to bloom anew.
A slow lifting of that darkness started
As the stars flickered back alight
Another million names were chosen and
Their began chanting slowly ended night..
