Cham Delights His New Friends

Cham gave away his most prized possessions his video games his PS2 his TV set His new friends are happy recipients They have only known him a couple of weeks It is amazing An answer to prayer for two of them They needed money for their drug habit. Jay, his best friend back “home” would have been extremely worried He was already a little concerned that Cham had not answered his texts for two months. They had been besties for eleven years but Cham’s parents moved Cham three states away for his dad’s new job, six months back. Knowing the extra money is what the family needed Away from their family, friends, church, and the town they had lived in since Cham was born. They knew he would adjust. He would be in college in a couple of years. They wanted him to have the best. His parents had no idea that when you are a sophomore in high school, the only peers who might give you a glimmer of a glimpse of a glance for a year or two are the drug pushers, who need a new sale. Jay was horrified when he got a phone call that his best friend Cham was gone, dead from a drug overdose. A drug overdose! He argued Cham would have NEVER used drugs. Not in his old town with his support system and his happy life, and friends from football, baseball, and track, he would not have. But Cham was not even able to give warning signs to those who loved him. Because they lived three states away. And his parents were too busy trying to find new friends, a church they liked, and a new support system to notice.

Wow, drugs are a serious problem today but, we need to stop it from within and not from without; too many politicians are running drug cartels. The problem is that they're all in a position to easily do it without getting caught. Well penned.

I do think it is sad for children who move away from their friends, as if they are older, the cliques are made, and the newcomers are "left out in the cold" often befriended by those who can benefit from the befriending.
