Chains

These chains that bind my weary soul
Will not set me free
Each link I make, now holds me tight
And becomes my destiny

I made these chains with my own heart
These links, are my mistakes
My soul cries out for some relief
With every breath it takes

Lessons learned have come too late
My will, has grown too weak
My past has added yet one more link
My future becomes so bleak

Freedom is just a fairytale
A myth my eyes can't see
A word my lips will not utter
A word called liberty

The weakest link is still too strong
My bondage still remains
Lord forgive the mistakes I've made
And free me from these chains
