C'Est La Vie

Old dead dog lies in the street.

Why? What has killed her?

Famine, cold or cruelty?

She wants nothing now,

She does not dream about anything.

How much she had of grief and sorrow.

But how much she gave to her owner

of love and help!

Now the old dead dog lies in the street.

But why don’t people take off their hats?
