Certain Sign of Spring

I happened on a starling Who did not notice me; He splashed and flapped in water As murky dark as he. His gutter-bath he finished up Then quickly took to wing— He circled off through bright sunlight, A certain sign of spring.

A lovely poem of spring! I await each year the starlings sing the songs of birds to come, such marvelous little mimics. A 7 for this little write :)
