Cats

CATS

I've had cats for all my life,
Can't seem to do without one.
Mischievous and filled with love,
Curious, coy and winsome.

Gentle, quiet, patient things,
They try hard not to bother,
But when they think you now have time,
They're in your face and cover,

Your book or papers or whatever,
You are trying to read,
"You're still at last so pet me now,
You really must concede,

For you've ignored me all day long,
And all day I've waited,
Now cuddle me and scratch my head,
And I will be elated."

They seem so self sufficient,
So quiet and aloof,
But they really long to snuggle,
And be close to us in truth.

To me a cat is such a love,
That when all's said and done,
You really need one in the house,
It's just not home without one.

Judy, I really envy you. you have described the cat that I WANT, but i am stuck with two no good.... (I better watch what I say). they are very independent, just like me. the one actually will come sometimes and sit on my lap here at the computer, but it's not too often. I just love when she lets me pet her. That other one I would love to ditch but I just can't do it. haha Luv, andrea , wonderful poem

Thanks so much Andrea. Glad you liked this one. The trick is to teach it to the from the first day you have them home. Let them know there is a "snuggle time" and they will get so they expect it. Of course, if you get them already grown it may be different. God Bless, JB

There is a cat nudging me, now, as I read your poem. Love your poem. Cats are like potato chips - nobody can have just one. We have many - all varieties - tiger, tortoise shell, Persian, and, of course, most just alley cats. Love, daver
