Cassandra's Dream

Caution: This is not one of my typical humor writes.

Cassandra’s Dream

By Elton Camp

Cassandra loved to gaze at the sky
With beautiful clouds drifting by

Like another world it seemed to her
One that vivid imagination did stir

Those like cotton looked so real
That their texture she could feel

A vaporous form she spied
“Look, a dragon,” she cried

That night when she fell asleep
She entered into a dream so deep

And trod a boardwalk over the clouds
Far above mankind’s teeming crowds

When she came to the walkway’s end
The conclusion of her life it did portend

Cassandra felt the cold mist on her face
As she plunged, her fate glad to embrace
