Carrying Your Cross

I'd never let you bear your cross or feel the scourge of thorns, I would not let you wear that crown or feel your skin be torn I kept from you, your rightful path I stopped you from the fall, I wouldn't let you down the road which you were meant to crawl I stole from you the gift of choice, I seized from you the weight, I soothed away your howling voice but I realized too late.......
