Carry the Flame
Destitute, barren, hollow,
Senses malfunction,
Reality, I struggle to swallow,
Critical error, dysfunction.
Pain seeps in, like water in the desert,
Absorbed in my core,
Grows within, with little effort,
Heart cries, tears pour through pores.
The black swirls once again,
Casting shadows throughout,
Enveloping the best of men,
Fear, shame, terror, doubt.
One small flicker of flame resides,
In the recesses of despair,
The darkness it defies,
Everlasting potential to flare.
Protect it, at all costs, fuel it desires,
A light breeze of hope breathes life,
Ignite the future, release the fire,
Illuminate your soul, engulf the strife.
