Carmen Rose

The first time she was very young
and not yet even in her prime.
Her flashing, latin eyes were well defined,
her nose, full lips and creamy skin
were budding out just like a rose
of the feminine Spanish Carmen kind.

But her protectors knew. My heart was
very young too, but how my passion grew.
Fast and true, she knew our time would
soon be through. I always thought,
the sweetest fruit is hanging low, and so
I put my love on show. As if it would.

Now she comes again, to break the wait,
a fate, of being once too early, but also late.
Life is random, give or take, what has passed
was not replaced. Her spinning soul was swept
into a great unknown. At last, I feel her wind blow,
my Carmen rose, back from the past, at last.
