Careful What You Wish For

CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR

They met by chance one lonely night
Each sending out a spark of light
Hoping it would start a flame
Underneath their cloud of rain
Picking their hearts up off the floor
Be careful what you wish for

They spent time together hand and hand
Talking deep and making plans
Walking on the same side of the street
Wondering why it took so long to meet
Turning love into an open door
Be careful what you wish for

Independent urges rise
Clouds roll into sunny skies
What's mine is yours and yours is mine
Compromise and love is blind
Commitment cuts you to the core
Be careful what you wish for

She loves him but doesn't know
How to love and let love go
She holds on to him so tight
Tries to keep him within her sight
In her head his lies roar
Be careful what you wish for

He wants to turn and walk away
Doesn't think he can stand another day
Of her needing his everything
O how her suspicion stings
He can't give her anymore
Be careful what you wish for

People tell me love is the key
To living this life happily
Here are my cautious words of advice
Remember to always think twice
Before making a choice that could start a war
Be careful what you wish for
