Notes About The Poem
My Grandparents have nicknamed themselves, Captain Pugwash and First Mate as reference to when they used to go on boating holidays in Scotland or In Norfolk on the broads. This is one of the few anniversary poems created for them...

Captain Pugwash and First Mate

Your voyage began in the summer of 69.
The adventures of life lay ahead.
Though you knew it would not all be plain sailing,
Your four years of prep put you in good stead.

At times, when your sea got quite choppy,
You'd batten down the hatches, as it were.
For both of you knew that after rocky waves
A storm was likely to occur...

After some time, the storm would abate.
In the calm you could recover.
And even though the storm was bad,
You'd grown closer, relied on each other.

As time has gone by it may feel
Like the unsettlement seems to lengthen,
But because you close ranks to wether these storms
Your trust, love and bond does strengthen.

Your ship is one of stability!
Wherever your journey may take you,
I wish you both a " Happy Anniversary! "
And long may your travels continue!

A really nice tribute to your grandparents. I'm old enough to remember the old black and white episodes of BBC's Captain Pugwash. :) Cheers - Gary

Thank you Gary... I have never seen it so I'll have a try with YouTube to see if it's on. I think it will be as I found Mork and Mindy on there. :-)

Very nice, Natasha. I like the name, Captain Pugwash. The rhyming is good, and this poem tells a good story about a couple who endures.

It is so bitterly cold in Scotland and Norfolk, they need to love one another to survive! Enjoyed!

Yes thank you Tom. Their anniversary was in June and this was this year's poem for them. They had a lovely day, they went for a meal and opened lots of prezzies. :-D
