Cant Make a Good Dog Bad

Life is sweet when your tongue’s hanging out and your head’s out the window of a moving car. What could be sweeter than that? This young mutt lived a spoiled life of long walks and car rides with his best friend at his side Until one night, a burglary goes wrong. The robbers shot the owner and took the dog from his home, dragging him out with a thick old rope. He ain’t going down easy; he’s going to let them know: You can’t make a good dog bad. Fight after fight, his new masters risk his life for a little dough. He’s wounded but his spirit ain’t broke. His latest challenger leaves him blind in one eye and he remembers somewhere there is a better life. It’s time to say “Goodbye.” He breaks loose from his chains, jumps the fence and runs away Into a world unknown. I guess his masters didn’t know: You can’t make a good dog bad Five years later, he’s a little grayer, and he’s slowing down. He ends up in a pound. People pass by; they don’t like his scarred eye or the way he shows his teeth. He’s got three days left now. A little girl stops in front of his kennel and sneaks her hand through the bars; He steps closer but he doesn’t growl instead he lets her fingers run down his snout —it ain’t a miracle. You can’t make a good dog bad. Life is sweet when your tongue’s hanging out and your head’s out the window of a moving car He’s waited all these years for one more ride With a new friend by his side. What could be sweeter than that?
