Candlelight Prayer

In awe of the candle,

to watch the flame flicker an aura
around and within,
asking our Maker to whet our sense
of hope, to ease our fragility,
to soothe our souls with solemnity,
grant us clarity of spirit
with gratitude heartened in prayer

The candle lowers, yet hovers

aglow around and within
to lighten the cradle of once
that glows with the hopes of now,
to aspire us with the breath
of fresh sunrises and easy sunsets,
and when the candle takes its rest,

we softly say. "Amen"
