Candle

It flares in the distance
A single light stranded without guard
It can go out in an instant
But the wax will always have a mark

It’s left unprotected
It’s left in the open
Nothing to help it
The moment had been broken

As soon as you left
All the walls around it fell
As you told me it was for the best
And the flame was dispelled

But that candle was the only hope of light
That the dark world had been looking for
And that candle that had shown so bright
Had been silenced forevermore.
