Cancer.

Today’s a day, I’m standing tall. I will not waver from my stance. I will not lose myself in the crowd, Or give in to your demeaning glance. No, today I am standing my ground. I believe I will succeed. I don’t care what you think of me. Someday you’ll take my lead. Today I’m standing up to you. For all the lives you’ve brought to an end. For what you did to my uncle, my grandma, and my friend. You took away their life, their pride. You left precaution at the door. Just when we thought you were done taking, You’d come back, and take some more. I think you have done more than enough, That, I know for sure. Next time, I’ll beat you to the punch. Someday, we’ll find the cure.

Having also lost family and friends to cancer, I found this poem to be very moving. Research for a cure continues, but progress seems to be very slow in producing results. This will make a fine addition to my list of favorites, Rachel. Love, Carolyn

Have had a lot of family members challenged with cancer. Some are doing well--some not so fortunate. So I can really relate to your words. Karen

Thank you. A good write on an all too familiar topic. I've lost many to cancer and appreciate this poem. Tony
