Can You See?
Can you see?
Yes, I feel the sun shining on my face
I feel the morning breeze through my hair
Can I deny the pleasures of my bond with the Earth
See but blackness in her soul and negate Her birth
You have your own eyes for lies
Can you appreciate the midnight’s stars?
You do see them, don’t you?
See the distance between and marvel at their light
Me? I think they’re gifts for those with the sight
Too, though, when I dream I scream
But, I remember my place everyday
Can you recognize when you forget
You get so wrapped up in your daily role
Really, it consumes you and takes it’s toll
See, it makes you mad and me sad
See the Earth’s gifts for us to enjoy
What things we take for granted
Things we abuse until they leave for good
Really special things that are misunderstood
Are we ever going to see? I must cry
Touch the morning dews and smile
The singing birds are here for you
Sky and clouds come alive in the shine
And winds soar around in suspended time
Dream on these things that sing
Look into the darkest nooks on land
In secret places for hidden gifts not yet smiled upon
My eyes search day night with my heart’s will
Eyes look back to me and I sense their thrill
And scream into the skies with happy sighs…
…I can see
