Can It Be?

He tells her that he’s leaving his girlfriend
And for a moment her heart skips a beat...
Because he gives her a smile of hope
Deep down inside she wonders if it’ll happen
They talk some more, which leads her to believing
She wonders if she’s the reason... Not knowing the truth.
She thinks about all the extra time they spend together
And the excuses he makes just to see her... could it be?
She wonders some more... can’t seem to grasp reality
Nothing good has happened for at least three years
She talks to her friends they all say the same…
But all she can taste is rejection on her tongue
Bitter, she takes a deep breath inhaling her fears
