Can I Have This Dance
She was gorgeous and I was ok
I gathered enough confidence to talk to her anyway
“Hi I would be grateful to have this dance
She replied yes of course I’ll give you a chance”
This moment was magical as we swayed to the beat
Thoughts raced through mind while my chest frantically beat
Step one, step two, left foot, now the right
Nervous as hell, I counted my movements all night
The song was coming to an end and I was just getting my grove
So I guess it was finally time to bust out my favorite moves
Oh my God just the memory was a disaster in hell
I step on her foot and we both fell
Damn, this was the 6 grade prom and all saw and knew
This was my only shot at Sarah which surely enough I blew
After we both made our stand to hear laughs I started to retreat
She grabbed my hand in front of everyone and kissed my on my cheek
Emotions ran through my body the feeling was sublime
7 years past that was history all in time
But just the day I say Sara at the campus cafe’
I whispered I would be grateful to have this dance
An enormous smile she replied yes of course I’ll give you a chance
