Called Out of Darkness
Called Out of Darkness
“9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy." 1 Peter 2:9-10 NKJV
We’ve been Called Out of Darkness,
And into God’s marvelous light.
Where once we were blind,
We have now been given sight.
We are a chosen generation,
Who are His royal priesthood;
Have obtained His amazing mercy;
Shun idols of stone and wood.
When we walk in the light,
We have fellowship with one another;
The blood of Jesus cleanses us,
And we are zealous for our Master.
The Lord is a sun and shield;
He provides us grace and glory;
Enables us to walk upright
And to tell our testimony.
We do not lag in zeal,
Or in earnest endeavour,
But are aglow with the Spirit,
And continually find the Lord’s favor.
We do not follow tradition,
But rather God’s word alone,
That leads us to everlasting
Before God’s mighty throne.
Because we are Called Out of Darkness,
We know we have been blessed,
Not by riches, silver or gold;
Enabled to overcome temptation’s test.
Called Out of Darkness,
And into the light of heaven.
Let’s give thanks for God’s truth
That for all He’s freely given.
