Call of the Charade
Blast this lonesome task,
I must don the mask.
Business as usual, I’m afraid,
the plans have been laid.
Must work with a quiet stealth
to avoid being myself.
Must keep up the charade
to keep getting paid,
but here's the scoop
I thank God for the soup
and the poetry friends I’ve made.
Goodbye for now,
My back’s against the wall.
I hear that beckoning call.
Be back when I can to post a few
and read poetry from all of you.
Thanks for the inspirations and fun,
but honestly, I do have to run!
