Call Me 'Coach'

I can teach you to compete
  without wearing fangs
Or train you to cheat
  without feeling pangs

I can insist you accept defeat
  and lose graciously
Or demand you win at all costs
  even playing dirtily

I can teach you 'Nice Guys Finish Last'
and the final score is everything
Or assure you it's only a game
  not an idol for worshiping

The best coach does this " assure you it's only a game".

Hmmm...I never knew a coach who said anything but "winning is everything!" Even knew one to say "If you come in second, we lost!"

I hear you, Milt. I had coaches like that too. But the best coaches I ever played for or saw were not all about winning; rather, they were all about teaching, and the winning came along for the ride. Thanks for your support on this one. Not the usual 'PS' topic. Hope and Help, gw
