Caged

Broken by their word
you try, oh, try to fly
you are but a caged bird
who looks longing to the sky.

Kept under lock and key
your freedom denied
oh poor little birdie
so many rules you must abide

Where will you hide
when there a four walls cutting your flight
your wings left untried
will your soul survive this blight?

She broke your bonds
little birdie now fly free
to her words your heart responds
Fly free out of this doomed city

Healed through her love
set free into the blue sky
now soar high, go above
fulfill your desire fly, oh, fly sky high

Whilst lovely as a poem just on it's face value I wonder if there is some comment about growing up and escaping parental control in here, it works for me on both levels. Nicely done.
