By My Side

When I wake and seem alone
In the quiet breath of morn,
To the sun that sees me rise
As the day begins to dawn,
There is company I keep
With a love that never died,
I can feel your presence close,
You are always by my side.

When I walk an empty street
As the night begins to fall,
I inhale the evening air,
Watching shadows creep and crawl,
There is nothing more I need
For my life is satisfied
And I know that you are there,
You are always by my side.

When I lay me down to sleep
And the bells of midnight chime,
I can sense that you are near,
I can feel your hand in mine;
Death is but another state,
Love can never be denied,
You are always here with me,
You are always by my side.
