By My Side

I am so cold
The covers are never enough
Can't sleep now
Until you grace my side

You're unshaven and beautiful
Five hour old aftershave
SInce graced a cheery crowd lingers
Upon my sheets

This person sleeps with me
Holds me when emotional dependency
Seeps through the alcohol
Like a child crying for its Mother

That's when you need yourself
As a being and to be loved
For all that's passed between his lips
And perhaps those of another...
