By Moonlight
By moonlight;
the candles are blown out in every room;
the acacia will rise to full bloom,
the lovers meet shadowed by the glow of the sky's gem,
And Cupid sends down his blessing for them.
By sunrise;
the deer will wake,
the flowers and bark will shake,
the Lord his creation to work will send,
And the magic spell will end.
By moonlight;
the fox and wolf leaps from the woods,
the naughty boys search the land for rosewood,
the sandman casts his sand on the world,
And the gentle rabbits lie in their borrows curled.
