Butterfly Spirit
I just found out the other day.
Why did it take so long to hear it?
I apologize. I just recognized
The wings of your butterfly spirit.
On the outside your wings seem delicate.
You appear to need protection.
But on the inside you’ve got rainbows
Growing in every direction.
Your cocoon has become your castle
As strange as that may sound
You’re accustomed to the strong tight fit
And the way it anchors you down.
During fleeting moments of your escape
Daily while in your flight
You share beautiful rainbow colors
You live in your cocoon at night.
I used to be a butterfly
It’s a phase some of us go through
One day you’ll come from the outside
And see the inside shining through.
Friends only want the best for friends.
They don’t want each other to hurt.
They want you to see things their way
They want you to put first things first.
Friends see butterflies as fragile
After all it’s just a phase
But you know from the inside
It’s YOUR life. It’s YOUR ways.
It’s Your butterfly spirit
YOUR smile, YOUR laugh, Your colors
It’s YOUR turn to be YOU this time,
No disrespect to others
So fly on little butterfly
With purpose and with ease.
Spread YOUR wings each morning
And take YOUR flight in peace.
