Butterfly Effect

A breath of wing
Such a curious thing
It holds so much power
And I’d stare for hours

Marveling at the possibilities
Just out of my grasp, not in my abilities

Butterfly effect
Maybe if I had let
Dancing with regret only in my head

If it has to end
Let me live with it instead
So I’m not left wondering
About the butterfly effect

Leave one minute before
Stop to explore the road I walk on
Every day, another chance to maybe change
Don’t wanna leave it up to chance

Lingering wont get me anywhere
Pretending that I don’t really care
Once upon a time it was our endgame
But it always turns out to be the same

 Butterfly effect
Maybe if I had let
Dancing with regret only in my head

If it has to end
Let me live with it instead
So I’m not left wondering
About the butterfly effect

What if what if
In another universe
Would it have turned out worse
If I had changed just one thing
Could I have avoided the sting

What if what if
My back wasn’t turned
And I wasn’t deterred
By the thought of thinking twice

Turn back time
I don’t wanna jump if it’s a fine line
But still a line nonetheless
And I’ll try
Until I die
So I don’t have to dream about a ghost’s caress
