Butterfly
Little caterpillar, small and content
All her life in the cocoon she spent
The world called out, come out and play
Outside is not safe, inside I will stay
Life passed by without rhyme or reason
Day in, day out without a season
What is my purpose, why am I here
If I go outside, I will die of fear
There must be more to life than this
What’s happening out there, what did I miss
Come out, come out, she heard them say
You must not miss another day
Help me, help me, I’m ready now
Reach out your hand we will show you how
She stepped outside and wept and wept
For all the time that she had slept
You don’t need to cry for it is true
The one who loves you makes all things new
So do not fret, you did not die
Behold you are now a butterfly!
