Butterfly

You tried to leave me
Broken and confused
Built me up
Then tore me down and
Said without you I would lose
Like a fool I listened to you

Depended on you for everything
Felt that without you I was nothing
You caused me to accept
Mistreatment and lies
Yelled at me and told me I was ugly
And no one would ever want me
You unleashed this very hell in me

Not once you said you loved me
Not once you said you cared
I don't think you liked me
Controlled me is what you did

Never thought that I could pull away
But I did
Grew strong and left you
Spread my wings and flew away

I was a caterpillar
Trapped and alone
Grew into a butterfly
And now I'm gone...

Wonderful statement about transformation and fleating opportunity, Breana! Sometimes we gain strength when growing away from the comfort of another drifting away. I look forward to reading more! Warm regards, John.
