But I made it home written by Mrs Yolanda Joy Nicholsen

Left behind
enemy line
waving a torn
flag but I’m fine
dirt on my face
my boots worn
bullets passing
by me with the
speed of lightning
rapid friendly fire
exploded my skull
dust clears helmet hull
the clouds began to rise
wiping bloody tears
as I opened my eyes
my plattoons all gone
but I made it home
