Bursting With Pride

So proud of my son now, just bursting with pride though there were times, I admit, I was worried inside In pre-induction training to defend the Jewish State surrounded by sworn enemies loaded with hate With the guts to do what he truly believes in my youngest son's photos display a wide grin He knows the Israeli Army's no walk in the park Losing even one war means the state goes dark Yet the esprit de corps in his army's unmatched May God see him through his service unscratched

Gershon, after reading your poem and comments, I took a cue from Kim and prayed through Psalm 46 on behalf of your son, your wife and you, and your nation. Your pride in your son is evident in the piece, my friend, and it has been earned. May God bless him with safety throughout his term of service ~ John

G'day Gershon … being the parent of a soldier in the Middle East must have you a little tense but proud if news we get here is what it's really like there, but of course news reports only report the worst - thanks Gershon - Lindsay

The news we get, as you sagely observe, is indeed only the worst stuff, so unlike life in the country. Thanks, Lindsay. :) Gershon

I'm happy for you Gershon, its people like your son that keeps our world a safer place. There is far too much evil and hatred in our world. Tom

Ha, ha! Israeli politics are every bit as awful as America's-----except Israel's have always been that way. … Thanks for tolerating the poem and for your kindness, Kai ~ Dual citizen

War, of course, brings sorrow... I've lost family members to wars, and it's awful... But some wars can't be avoided, unfortunately. Those that can be avoided, should be. Peace and Calm, Gershon

Great choice of Psalm there, my friend. Right now, things are quiet in Israel, though that can change in a flash. Thanks for your support, Kim! Blessings, Gershon
