Burning Bridges

Now the fire burns in my heart
My body it slowly rips apart
Myself I have to lay the blame
This torture is my work of art
Bridges burning in the night
A blaze with a burning light
Lighting up the darkened world
Such a sad and painful sight

Forward now into the dark
Stepping into a wild stark
Retreat an option now removed
So journey forward I must embark

Unions are a distant memory
Like fleeting butterflies they flee
Re-run on my minds black screen
Now with these actions I disagree.

The road crunches under my feet
As I walk on this lonely street
Alliances lost to the mists of time
Like an old puzzle I’m incomplete

My mind was blank when fires set
Any thoughts I had I now forget
As I destroyed my links to past
With fire, fists and angry threat
