Burn
By Laura Dee Battle

Crimson and stone
Just leave me alone
Here on my own to atone
Left behind my throne to the drones
Let the hungry ones occupy
Let the leeching masses sanctify
Make it higher than all of us
Make it worth all of this fuss
I'd rather watch everything burn
We'll start again at the world's urn
With fond memories of impending doom
Wondering when we stopped looking for the moon
Then we would rebuild the general store
A post office and bank; the same as before
The hungry will need corruption an greed
Things we don't need will plant the first seed
So while we watch it all burn
Let's leave every stone unturned
And while we wait to dissipate
Identities made will then evaporate
Behind the doors we close for good
Our demons forever left misunderstood
I know it still may be too late for me
Ending for me; crashing waves in the sea
That day we'll all burn...
With flames in the wind
We'll watch the world burn
And let our hearts mend
