Bummy Dinner
I remember the time when family stories
were share around the dinner table
It was a time when there was no television or cable
A time when we would pull each other’s legs
While adults sipped in one or two pegs
And now at the dinner table there is a quiet silence
No longer looking to elders for guidance
With cell phones being constantly checked
Food is treated with disrespect
A sacred time now violated
We all feel so isolated
