Brown Eyed Boy

Brown eyed boy
sailing on a ship of dreams
in an ocean of blue sky
sewn with cotton seams.

Sails are filled with wind
blowing from the east.
A symphony of music
created by the sea.

Brown eyed boy
listens to the notes as
people cage his joy,
they say dreams can't last.

The music loudens, sails whip.
He knows and believes.
His heart won't let him quit,
his dreams survive on the sea.

Brown eyed boy
help me survive.
I am caged joy,
imagination deprived.

I used to be like you
dreams soaring high,
til I invited people in to
control my life.

Help me, help me
I've forgotten how to dream,
how to hope and believe
in...anything.
