Brokenhearted Sunsets
The veins of brokenhearted sunsets,
blue cuts that scratch the glacial eye.
Raw with mercurial redness of debts,
locked down with crocodile jaws that die.
Breathless air in cataract twilight,
undeserved beauty of heartbroken despair.
If this curtain falls, will be but morning’s slight.
Surely the skies will fail to repair.
For without your transcendent eyes,
a certain color of turquoise ceases to exist,
the ruddy splash of the universe bids goodbye,
and only one pillow holds my fist.
