Broken Winged Angel

in his arms, he took me high
above the earths night air
read his sweetest poetry
lifting my deep despair

speaking in whispered tones
floating weightless in space
loving each other, such delights
in this heavenly place

made me feel so special, said
I'd be worth any wait
told each other our deepest
secrets feeling it was fate

soon the spell was broken
when then he did inquire
possibilities of "love" with
us a goal he did aspire

my heart sank how could
I when even I didn't know
dropped his eyes it hurt to
see his pain, so I had to show

smiling looking in his eyes
slowly showing my broken wing
told him he'd be the first to
know if I ever felt whole again
