Broken Hearted Child
Broken Hearted Child
You did your best, while you could
Until it ended like a knife cutting sharp
I was taken from you where I stood
Memories played a song like a harp
A song that played through the years
Times of freedom where I could be me
Carrying me through days and nights of fears
When it was you, I needed to see
It never should have happened that way
Misplaced where I didn’t belong
Silenced, without being able to say
All that happened that was wrong
I lived in a world, laws didn’t mean a thing
To those who did the crimes in front of me
I played piano and I tried to sing
Made promises to speak later, of what I see
Here I am, writing words from years ago
About when they forced you to leave
Wishing only that you could know
A broken hearted child, still grieves
