Broken

Departure comes at costs that shatter dreams,
For creatures that despair roam in the shallows
Of a listeners pride on an evening that seems
Filled with lonesome thoughts and heavy sorrows.

Cry amongst yourself, for it’s yours to bear;
The weight of guilt that causes hearts to falter.
My broken heart, a medallion you can wear,
Until you find your way onto another altar.
