Broken

My heart is so broken
that I'm afraid
it won't beat
ever again
millions of pieces
in the air
can't catch them
with my hands.

My heart is so broken
but I don't know
if it was ever even
whole
or if it learned
how to work
with its cracks
and its holes...

My heart is so broken
that I could die
but I've felt like this before
in my life
I'll clean the mess
I'm leaving behind
once I put myself together
one more time.
