Bring Me Memories of Grandfather

bring me around his blazing fireplace and I'll tell you leprechaun stories safe from their torment outside bring me to the train platform and I'll grip grandfather's hand tightly as we turn and wave goodbye bring me the old shoes grandfather wore and I'll dream the steps he took, to reach my side bring me his tiny gold-rimmed glass, filled with sherry and I'll toast grandmother's birthday, 75 years ago bring me his elegant blue suit and I'll look through a 6 year old boys eyes his final resting place In honor of William J. Absolutely beautiful tribute to your grandfather. I loved my grandfather so much. I was his "girl". (Plus I was the baby.) It sounds like you have so many memories....how nice! Thanks for commenting on my poems. It means alot!! xxoo Holly Moore

this is truly an inspiring poem, Jimbo.. the last stanza, would in my opinion, vie with the classic of poetry....

Great work in honor of your grandfather..Reads like he was very tall in your eyes..Enjoyed reading your excellent work about him..Thanks for stopping by..The Cardinals flew into my back yard (for back earlier this year just before nesting and after nestings they would come and drink from the birdbath and eat seed and suet) looking for the water mostly..I noticed that only one flew down to eat the Rudbeckia seeds from the summer blossoms..I guess they were more in need of water..Sara
