Bring Another Day
Another birthday, another year gone by
As I come ever closer to my ultimate end
I've been trodden under foot and held up high
Made many an enemy, experienced true friends
I've made mistakes, oh mistakes I've made
But lessons learned, helped create this man
I've cried hard and worked harder, laughed and played
Each chapter of life, I better understand
Helped to gain wisdom and clearer of mind
The struggles built strength, so I could hold my own
The journey of life leads each of us to a different find
Battle weary and no longer willing to throw stones
They say youth is wasted on the young, it still stands true
Age brings weary, have the will but not much might
The children have energy but ignorant what to do
Our wisdom is earned, we've walked into light
So another day turns to weeks, in a blur another decade
But I have to say I'm glad for everyday of my life
I have new memories though some old ones fade
I enjoyed every tear, every laugh, all the smiles and the strife
I've created a legacy through my children for sure
I've created art through words I have wrote
I've brought laughter but still want to bring cure
To all the lost souls, help them with the burden they tote
As an elder its my duty to teach and pass lessons
No matter how hard headed the youth can be
Teach them to enjoy all of the earths real blessings
Like passion, heart and true dignity
