Brighter Day

I guess you thought it was okay
To lie to me
But now I feel so stupid
That I can hardly see

You all are
All the same
And that’s something
That will never change

I thought I hit a good one
Someone to call my own
But once again
I’m left here all alone

I don’t pray to God
Or have wishful thinking
I just put on a mask
To hide all the hurting

And I can’t help but cry
Although it never got far
For all the times I’ve tried
I still hope on every star

That one will
Soon come my way
And one night
I’ll see a brighter day
