in violet dawn
he screeches a world awake
barnyard bugler struts

the sun is coming
and he's the first one to know
blooms and butterflies

red rooster so bold
like desert cactus flowers
and amber at noon

WoW! Evelyn, You composed three well-written haikus about a rooster. I remember growing up, I used to mimick our rooster from my back porch. We had a chicken coop when I growing up. Your poem brought back those memories. I enjoyed the read. Have a nice day:-) Alexis

Enjoyed, although roosters don't wait for the sun as they are natural loud mouths! Aloha!

They certainly let us know 'what's up.' Thank you so much for your thoughts. Aloha!

Great haikus. The rooster may produce more.

Believe me, Evelyn, I know how hard it is to write good haiku. You've accomplished it splendidly in these three. Thanks for sharing them.
