Brave New World

The eugenic scientist wanted me cloned because of my high IQ and beauty, after all, my friends and I went through the IQ and beauty test duties. Those who failed the test were denied access to the cloning room and were doomed, only 18 years of age and euthanized while in the "sleeping" room. I tried not to show any emotion or rage or I'd be put in a holding brainwashing cage, so robotically I lay down on the sterilized table and played along as I was able. They placed my cells in a petri dish and placed them in a host egg provider while covered in a caffeine solution, they then shocked my cells till they slowly divided. The experiment which they labeled #33 was a success as they came out of the womb room having made three more clones of me which they exclaimed was a victory. Negative emotions overcame me so they brought me to the brainwashing room where they tried to convince me saying over and over that cloning was for man kinds good. Since, I failed at brainwashing they showed me to another room down the hall and thinking of my friends and missing them all, I finally started to bawl. I thought of the parents I never knew and what they might've been like snatched from them right after birth because traditional parenting was deemed a curse. Upon entering the room they harshly strapped me down to the hard table, reminding me that crying was wrong and that I was being unstable. Slowly, injecting the poison in my arm it looked like the lights above me swirled, saying that I was a heretic and a rebel that didn't belong in this brave new world. 4-2-17

I like this. Congratulations on your win. As we all fear, poets are only marginally necessary for the success of destruction. Long live freedom of expression, let us enjoy it while it lasts. Many wishes, Kai

Hi Cheryl, This is a remarkable story. It had my full attention from start to finish. I see this as a book or movie. Did you see Divergent? This puts me in the mind of that movie. A without a doubt seven. If I could rate it higher I would:-) Alexis

Wow, Cheryl! This is cutting edge poetry. Very dark and futuristic. I loved this poem. Another side of your poetic self is revealed. A most excellent poem. Double 7 and instant fave. This I would nominate for POTW. It's a classic in my humble estimation.
