Branch and Root

I swear I cleared that trail last week;
I can’t believe my eyes.
The brush has grown above my head;
The vines are thick as thighs.

It’s almost like the trees conspired
To bar with branch and root,
But since old Fangorn’s far from here,
I guess the point is moot.
