Boulevard of Broken Dreams

I've been through pain, I've been through drama
How can I maintain when they just locked up my Mama

My grandmother's gone, her work took it's toll
She wasn't ready to go but the Lord took her soul

For God drew a number so it must have been hers
Because she went from fine to dying and I was crushed by the blurs

That were brought upon me when I was lost and confused
Caught up playing Karma's fool, up to my neck in debt regretting the cost of them dues

But see I had a monkey on my back before I shook it
See my family's job was take it and bake it but don't overcook it

Where I from a product of the slums
Another statistic raised amongst misfits where the people chased profit & in order to get it they sold drugs for a sum

Didn't need a 9-5 to survive or to get our cash right
Get it by any means but never speak on what you seen, we only knew what they showed us brought up in the fast life

We all lost in the end though and all dues were paid
Through the heartbreak it was like I was amused but confused still holding faith saying never again would I lose my way and praying that this bruise will fade

My life was nothing to laugh at, best way to describe a typical day was hopeless scenes of dope and fiends
Still remember that old run down shack with the bums around back, the house we called home eventually became known as the Boulevard of Broken Dreams..
