BORROWED WORDS - AND NO MISTAKE

“Isn’t it nice to know that tomorrow
Is a new day with no mistakes in it yet?”
For goodness knows I’ve made as many
As anyone else you’ve met.

Whenever I’ve come to a cross-roads
(And, in life, there are many of those)
After careful consideration,
It was always the wrong one I chose,

In the bookies I’m a favourite,
They smile when I walk in.
For, whomever I put my money on,
They know it will never win.

My biggest mistake was my marriage.
That was bound to end in tears.
I vowed to be true for ever;
She lasted barely three years.

So now I can’t wait for tomorrow.
I’ve vowed from the moment day breaks,
I’ll not make a single decision,
Then I can’t make any mistakes.
