Born Too Soon

Born again on the night we met
A night that I will never forget

The world as I knew it, was rearranged
From our first kiss everything changed

She changed my life from empty to full
My years with her were wonderful

She said she would always be in love with me
Often said , and with sincerity

I felt our love was secure
Through time or trouble we would endure

Always or forever means infinity
Anything less is just temporary

My age to hers was always a fear
I was older than her by several years
She said, I will always be in love with you
And age will never become an issue

I believed her words to be the truth
But issues did come, and one was youth

Another was my reduced finance’s
Losing my job also reduced my chances
Of living the life, I had dreamed of
And losing what I thought was her love

On the river of time I was her ferry
Just crossing to find someone else to marry

Her love raised me as high as the moon
But alas, the truth… I was born to soon
